Jets vs. Cowboys live score, updates, highlights from NFL Week 2 game

Dak Prescott and Aaron Rodgers have played some classic games, but they won’t get a chance to have another duel on Sunday.

The Jets’ season took a severe hit when Rodgers suffered a torn Achilles minutes into his team debut, forcing New York to roll with Zach Wilson as its starter going forward. Wilson’s first major test in the starting role will come on the road against a ferocious Dallas defense.

The Cowboys already dismantled one New York team, earning a 40-0 win over the Giants in Week 1, and Dan Quinn’s swarming front seven has the potential to make life very difficult for Wilson and the Jets’ offensive line in this matchup.

The Jets’ defense won’t make life easy for Prescott and the Cowboys, either. After forcing four Bills turnovers in Monday night’s win, Dallas will have to be on high alert to avoid falling into the same traps.

The Cowboys haven’t beaten the Jets since 2007, so while New York has had more than a few lean years over the last decade, a win has eluded Dallas in this matchup through multiple eras.

6:04 p.m. — Rough start to the half for the Jets, with Dallas stuffing Breece Hall after a Wilson incompletion. Now a false start makes it 3rd & 17 for New York. Not ideal.

6:01 p.m. — It’ll be interesting to see what Zach Wilson’s confidence level is after a pretty strong second quarter. He has a chance to put the Jets squarely in this game.

5:00 p.m. — Prescott is a perfect 10 for 10 so far, while Lamb is up to 79 yards. With Brandin Cooks out, he’s being featured even more than usual.

End of first quarter: Cowboys 7, Jets 0

4:56 p.m. — A penalty contributes to terrible starting field position for Dallas, but Prescott finds Lamb again for 33 yards. Lamb is up to 67 yards through a quarter of play.

4:53 p.m. — This time, the Jets have to punt it. They have two tries to gain a single yard and couldn’t do it, even with Zach Wilson’s legs.

4:49 p.m. — It’s a fake! Ashtyn Davis gives the Jets some life on a gutsy call, converting the first down for the Jets deep in their own territory.

3:33 p.m. — Zach Wilson will be leaning on Jets passing game coordinator Todd Downing today. Downing was dismissed as the Titans’ offensive coordinator last season and was brought on to join Robert Saleh’s staff in February.

The best version of Zach Wilson appears when Aaron Rodgers is present, so without his mentor, Wilson is turning to Jets QB coach Todd Downing. Known around the building as a calm, understanding personality, and he had earned Rodgers’ approval as well. Downing develops excellent…
